Common questions

Is my file actually safe? Where does it go?

It doesn't go anywhere — every tool on this site runs entirely inside your own browser tab using JavaScript. Your PDF is read, processed, and saved right there on your device. We have no server that receives it, so there's nothing for us (or anyone else) to see, store, or leak.

My exam or job form wants a photo, signature or PDF under a size limit. What do I do?

Open Compress to Exact Size, add your file, pick a quick size such as Photo 50 KB, Signature 20 KB or PDF 200 KB (or type your own limit) and press Shrink files. If the form also asks for exact pixel dimensions, open "Exact dimensions" and enter them. Your file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded.

Can I use my own fonts, remove a PDF password or erase a watermark?

Yes — on files and fonts that are yours, or that you have permission to use and change. Custom fonts are read on your device only and are never uploaded, and using a font you aren't licensed for is your responsibility. Removing a password, watermark or copyright notice from someone else's work without permission may be illegal and is against our Terms. A few tools ask you to tick a confirmation box before they run.

How do I report misuse or a copyright concern?

Use the Contact page (choose “Copyright / abuse report”) or email contactdarksiltlabs@gmail.com with what is affected and how to reach you. We don't host or see anyone's files, so there is nothing stored to take down, but we review every report and can restrict or disable a tool or feature if needed.

If nothing gets uploaded, why do some tools need internet?

Fair question! Your file is always processed on your own device and never travels anywhere. Most tools keep working even if your connection drops once the page has loaded. A few — OCR, the AI tools (background removal, transcription, summarising, translation) and some converters — download a library or an AI model the first time you use them, so they need internet for that step. The download is a generic file; your document is never sent.

Is this really free? What's the catch?

Yes, genuinely free — every tool on the site, no sign-up, no hidden limits. It's supported by optional donations, not by charging you or selling any data (there's no data to sell, since we never see your files). There are currently no ads on the site.

What happens to my file after I close the tab?

It's gone, immediately — nothing was ever stored anywhere outside your device's own memory for that browser tab. If you want to keep the output, download it before closing.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes — every tool works on mobile browsers the same way it does on desktop, since it's all just running in the browser itself.

Do you collect my email or personal details?

No account or email is needed to use any tool. The only place we'd ever see your email is if you choose to message us through the Contact page — and even then, it's never shown publicly.

A tool isn't working — what should I do?

First, check you're connected to the internet (the page itself, and a few tools, need it to load, as above). Try refreshing the page and re-opening the file. If it's still not working, let us know through the Contact page with what happened, which tool, and your browser — we read every message.

Some tools say "Beta" — what does that mean?

It means the tool is new and works well for most cases, but hasn't been used by as many people yet as our long-standing tools. We'd love your feedback on them through the Contact page if something looks off.

Still stuck?

Send us a message on the Contact page — tell us which tool, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. That's usually enough for us to help.

Like the tools?

Bynd PDF stays free thanks to optional support from people who find it useful. If it saved you a trip to a sketchy upload-your-PDF website somewhere, you're welcome to buy us a coffee on Ko-fi — entirely optional, and never required to use any tool.

Open-source AI models used

A few tools run a small AI model locally in your browser (using Transformers.js, ONNX Runtime, MediaPipe or Tesseract.js). Every model is openly licensed and is downloaded from a public host (Hugging Face, Google or the Tesseract data host) — never your file. Credits:

The full list of libraries, models and fonts is on the Open-source licences page.
